ROTTEN SOUND (FI)
Rotten Sound are back and angrier than ever. Grindcore is not for the faint of heart and these Finns do not subscribe to the idea of compromise. ‘Abuse to Suffer’ remains true to the band’s resilient roots, while not falling into the traps of chewing endlessly on an old formula gone stale or not daring to add an element of surprise when fitting the style. What sets ROTTEN SOUND apart from other protagonists in the field is an obvious intelligence that shows in their to-the-point songwriting, arrangements, and subtle inclusion of choice Death Metal elements in their massive sound. ROTTEN SOUND were conceived in the city of Vaasa, Finland by guitarist Mika Aalto in 1993, who was soon joined by vocalist Keijo Niinimaa. This duo remains in place as the only original members – yet drummer Sami Latva and Kristian Toivainen on bass have meanwhile been steady members for many years as well. The Finns can proudly look back at an impressive catalogue of six highly acclaimed studio albums, seven Eps, three split singles, a single and a live DVD. Furthermore, ROTTEN SOUND hit the stages of major Metal and Hardcore oriented festivals and toured in regular intervals alongside such renowned acts as NASUM, PHOBIA, DISFEAR, CARCASS, MUNICIPAL WASTE, EXHUMED, NAPALM DEATH and PIG DESTROYER among many others. With ‘Abuse to Suffer’, ROTTEN SOUND are hammering out an album that equally acknowledges the band’s celebrated past as well as breaking into some new harsh ground that keeps the fire burning.
Implore has toured restlessly since the release of their first LP “Depopulation” (Pelagic Records 2015) more than 100 shows performed in Europe and Russia made this trio get everyone in the underground scene be familiar with their name and their hectic activity. This is why also open-air festivals such as Resurrection Fest, Party San and Summer Breeze wanted them to perform on this year’s editions. Not taking anything for granted the band played all type of stages and venues from squats with electric generators in Italy to mini festivals in the woods of Switzerland. Following the release of the new 7” called “Thanatos”, named after the Greek mythology demon, which is the personification of the death. The band will tour South America for the very first time, visiting Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Ecuador. A month long tour that will help increase the followers since South America is one of the most loyal and passionate audiences in the world. New guitar player Petro Manel comments “Thanatos is like a deep breath of fresh air for Implore’s sound. It keeps the essence of the brutality in Depopulation adding some new details that bring the songs to a new level. The five tracks in this new EP are full of anger and hate, experimenting with new structures, riffs, and vocal lines, keeping the straight-to-the-point philosophy that makes this new 7″ a short and intense one”.
Swiss picturesque Emmental is not only host for cows and cheese, but also some first class METAL! NIHILO do their stint with the now available debut «Concordia Perpetua», featuring a set of first class death metal tunes. In times of bulk-sized deathcore packages, death metal has been long told dead for some or at least a bit rusty, with the great bands low in number and dying away. That there IS an offspring for the queen of all metal genres is proven by bands such as Nihilo, who have, together with other local bands, added up to a death metal renaissance in the Swiss metal scene. Classic death metal riffs find themselves joined by intense melodies, creating a remarkable atmosphere and density, which gets even enhanced by the lyrical concept. That this concept works has not only been proven since the first day of the band’s existence, but also in every single show the band has played so far. Their outstanding live energy has resulted in shows like the Mountains of Death festival, the Metal Dayz at the famous Z7 in Pratteln and supporting slots for PESTILENCE, SINISTER and more. With their hardball, heavy, deep and intense debut, NIHILO finally prove why they are one of most promising Swiss bands. «Concordia Perpetua» features ten outbursts of elemental death metal forces, in a young and modern, yet downright classic blast festival.
